Using a variety of large-scale images, the new stand aims to highlight the very best aspects of Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region while at the same time conveying the unique look and feel of this vibrant event location. The stand’s colourful presentation areas and cosy coffee lounge invite guests to take a break from the fair’s hustle and bustle. One particular highlight is sure to be the stand’s “selfie-spot”, which features a Frankfurt-typical “kiosk” backdrop.
In former times, these iconic little booths served to provide Frankfurt citizens with drinking water. Transformed over the years into roadside kiosks, these little urban hotspots are today popular meeting places of the local population and a traditional feature of Frankfurt’s cityscape. The origin of these “watering houses” actually dates back to the second half of the 19th century, when they were used to distribute bottles of mineral water to Frankfurt’s citizenry. The reason behind their existence was a simple one – to encourage workers to drink more water and, as a result, less alcohol. Today, some 300 of these outlets (in German: “Wasserhäuschen” or “Trinkhalle”) remain in operation throughout Frankfurt’s city districts. Here, locals and visitors meet, have a chat, enjoy a beer, or purchase a bag of sweets. Their appeal spans the generations, attracting people of all ages and walks of life.
To underline the significance of these booths to the city’s urban life, the FCB will be bringing Frankfurt’s kiosk culture to the IMEX at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, 24th May. The event’s motto will be “#meetfrankfurt Kiosk Party”. Designed in the style of an “after-work bottle party”, this jovial gathering will have exhibitors from the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region welcoming event planners and industry specialists to their stand, where they will offer their guests sustainably brewed regional craft beers, apple wine cocktails, bottled lemonade and mixed bags of lollies, as sold at “real” Frankfurt kiosks.
This year’s partner companies at the FrankfurtRheinMain Stand F110 will include: Alte Oper Frankfurt, Congress Park Hanau, Coreum, cornerstone meetings gmbh, Frankfurt Convention Bureau, Frankfurt Marriott Hotel, Lufthansa Seeheim GmbH, MIT Event- & Incentive-Management, ProAir-Charter-Transport GmbH, Scandic Hotels und Wertheim Village.
IMEX visitors will find a further highlight in Hall 9, an eVTOL (“electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing aircraft“) simulator, kindly provided by our partner company, ProToura. Using VR technology and a moving cockpit, it makes electric air taxis of the future tangible for trade fair guests.
Further information on the IMEX and the many activities on offer outside of the fairgrounds, such as free city tours, is available on the FCB website at www.meetfrankfurt.com.
